NSW has reported 1290 new local cases on Monday, the highest number ever recorded in a state in one day, and four deaths.
“Our hospital system is under pressure. Will we need to do things differently? Of course, we will. We will need to manage things differently because we are in the middle of a pandemic, but we will cope,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said. Ms Berejiklian thanked NSWv residents for continuing to come forward for vaccination, with 6,794,474 doses being administered in NSW.“NSW has done 6.8 million jabs which is an outstanding result: nearly two thirds of our adult population had one dose and 36 per cent have had two doses,” she said.
“We are also seeing some spillover into adjacent local government areas and that is usually from workers going into those local government areas of concern and bringing [the virus] back and affecting the families,” Dr Chant said. There were 51 new cases recorded in Western NSW Local Health District and nine in the Far West Local Health District.NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro urged regional communities to be alert to the ongoing outbreaks and to come forward for testing.He thanked the community of Moree for coming forward to a walk-in vaccination hub over the weekend, saying data showed 82 per cent of people in the area had now received first doses.
Four residents at Uniting Edinglassie Lodge residential aged care home in Penrith tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.In a statement, Uniting NSW/ACT said an asymptomatic contract cleaner first tested positive on August 25 as part of routine 72-hour testing.
