The St. Luke’s Medical Center has assured that its health workers are “properly compensated” for the important work that they are doing amid the coronavirus disease pandemic. In a statement, SLMC said the hospital continued giving benefits to its employees “that are beyond what is required of them under the law” such as gratuity pay, free meals, free hospitalization, and accommodation for COVID-19 positive employees.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, SLMC Employees Association clarified that there is no dispute between the union and management on the issue of benefits to healthcare workers. A group of health workers from private and public hospitals has considered staging a mass protest of DOH’s failure to release their benefits.
