The active COVID-19 cases in Pampanga were nearing the 3,000 mark despite intensified health protocols, data from the provincial government showed.

Pampanga’s capital City of San Fernando has the most number of active cases at 739 as of Aug. 11, followed by Mabalacat City with 418 active cases as of Aug. 10, and Guagua town with 286 active cases as of Aug. 10.

Gov. Dennis Pineda issued an executive order on July 30 imposing stricter border controls, a curfew period from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., a liquor ban, and prohibiting contact sports. The order is effective from Aug. 2 to Aug. 15.
