Victorian health authorities are scrambling to find the source of six separate chains of COVID-19 transmissions as the number of mystery cases in the state grew by another four on Thursday.
A new small business support fund has also been established for eligible businesses that don’t qualify for existing programs, which will provide a one-off payment of $10,000. Of the four mystery cases, one is a man from Brunswick West, and the remaining three are from two separate households in Glenroy. Viral fragments have been detected in wastewater in the Glenroy-Broadmeadows-Jacana catchment in the past week.
“This continues to be a significant exposure. We’ve got over 120 or so active cases associated with this current cluster, multiple schools, multiple movements. That’s why we went into lockdown ... so if you’ve got symptoms, wherever you are, get tested.” He said Victoria was considering ways to strengthen the screening process, but did not reveal what steps would be taken.
