Children aged under nine are increasingly testing positive to COVID-19, with 44 catching the contagious Delta variant within 24 hours and young children accounting for almost 15 per cent of cases in the past fortnight.
In the past two weeks, children and teenagers have made up more than one-third of cases, with 70 infections among 10 to 19-year-olds in the past 24 hours, and almost 400 in the last week. Only a handful of children have long-term symptoms, he said, noting a new study of more than 1700 British children where only 4.4 per cent had symptoms that lasted more than four weeks.“It is likely higher numbers in children are a reflection of lower vaccination rates compared to older groups and Delta being nearly twice as contagious as other variants,” Professor Booy said.

Yes it's contagious &there are v very sick children from OTHER complaints - so called comorbidities. Of course children who are very unhealthy could be knocked over by any mild illness, even Covid. Fewer than 12 people have died under 40. The 27 yr old man died of cardiovascular.
Lesson from scientific terminology: In the 'experimental research' type of scientific research, those who participate in the experiment are called 'SUBJECTS'. Since none of the currently available liquids are fully 'vaccine', those who take liquids are scientifically 'subjects'!
What lockdown has done to my children's education and development is immeasurable. Kids who loved school now hate going as they are made to feel so guilty. I now realise that many teachers would rather stay at home and get paid. Fat public servants.

We need to vaccinate kids earlier than next year. Covid isn’t going away and we don’t want kids to develop serious disease. We’ve already seen teens in hospital and one in ICU.
o/s experts have been saying and showing evidence of this well before it emerged in NSW. Why so late in reporting ? Is NSW Health properly informing GP's for instance of these much higher risks with the delta variant so they can also properly inform the public ? nswpol auspol
