Covid-19: 1,098 new cases, 163 patients in hospital

There are 163 patients in hospital with Covid, which is down one on yesterday's figures. Of the 163 patients with Covid, 26 are being treated in ICU.

The centres are being operated by the HSE and are operating throughout the country across the bank holiday weekend. Speaking in Athlone today, Paul Reid said that of the 10,000 people, around 5,000 would not have been registered on the portal, and around two thirds of them were under the age of 19. Yesterday, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said that a greater percentage of adults are now fully vaccinated in Ireland than in the UK.
