NSW Chief Health Officer Doctor Kerry Chant is pleading all Sydney adults to come forward for the AstraZeneca jab because there is a 'less scarce supply'.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Dr Chant revealed lockdowns and vaccines are"critical" steps that will help Australia return to pre-pandemic conditions.

"It is a very effective vaccine, I can't stress it enough. I have been vaccinated, my mother-in-law has been vaccinated and my husband has been vaccinated with AstraZeneca. But on Saturday, ATAGI issued a statement advising all adults in Greater Sydney to"strongly consider getting vaccinated with any available vaccine" - including AstraZeneca."There is a scarcity supply of Pfizer," Dr Chant admits."Unfortunately, we are not in a situation where we have plentiful supplies.
