DOH: 12 Filipino crew of vessel from Indonesia positive for COVID19

DOH spokesperson Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the patients are among 20 in an all-Filipino crew of a tugboat now docked in Albay. The 8 others tested negative for the disease.

Meanwhile, health officials are keeping watch of the other patient who snuck off the ship and disembarked in Butuan to go home to his family despite orders to stay aboard. The vessel's point of origin, Indonesia, is the current epicenter of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia and cases there spiked due to the more transmissible Delta variant.
