Basil Manuel, executive director of the National Professional Teachers' Organisation, was confident the adjusted level 4 restrictions would be extended and would affect schooling. He said the organisation supported schools reopening but he had"serious doubts" about next week's date.
He said that the director-general of basic education, Mathanzima Mweli, had indicated during a meeting with teacher unions last week that the date for the reopening of schools"was not cast in stone".Cynthia Barnes, general secretary of the National Teachers' Union, said it would not allow teachers to return to work if the infection rate was high and"moving like wildfire".
Thomas Hlongwane, president of the South African Principals' Association in Gauteng, recommended to the department of basic education at a meeting yesterday that the province's schools should open on July 26 instead of July 19 if Covid-19 infections continue to climb. "We are losing learning time but we have got to deal with that in the same way as the rest of the world is dealing with it."
Fuck that... We r dead already

It’s meant to curb the uprising due to the arrest of the Land Expropriation Champions and time silence opposition from demanding accountability.
It’s almost like lockdowns don’t work🤔
Level 5 is needed
We follow science don't we? Our numbers (infections and deaths) are same as the US, but they are open for business.
The vaccine from the West will keep mutating the virus and stay the profit rolling in at the detriment of poor people. Mission is to spread more troubles through the vaccine. It's a dangerous game
I see no problem with that but government must not just continue with extensions and not increase or provide people who lost their jobs with salaries and those R350 to R4000.00 at least. Poverty is hitting hard on our people.
Me and my family will no longer entertain this Lockdown nonsense, we'll learn to live with this virus just like other viruses.
