Australian health authorities have been adamant that we should avoid mixing COVID-19 vaccines, with Chief Medical Officer Craig Kelly last week urging people not to cancel their second AstraZeneca jab.But research has found that taking a "mix-and-match" approach is boosting protection against the virus and may be a solution for countries struggling with supply demands.
A combination of AstraZeneca followed by Pfizer proved to be nearly as potent as two Pfizer vaccines. It produced the best T-cell responses, and also a higher antibody response than Pfizer followed by AstraZeneca. Oksana Pyzik, an infectious diseases expert at University College London, said given there's such an erratic supply of vaccines globally, this kind of mix-and-match trial was "really important".
Perhaps it would be an idea for a nationwide media gag on all forms of media regarding the vaccination until the information is actually final. I'm so fucking sick of it changing virtually by the hour and the information being different depending which trash rag you read.
Proving ONCE AGAIN... Health officials don't have a freaking clue... 'Nuff said!!!...
Or provide other preventative and treating options…
Only morons get vaxxed
Amazing how the Morrison government vaccination stuff-up is now being patched-up and rebranded as “innovative”. 🤦♂️
Tomorrow Scotty will come up with some new ideas about what works and who can get it
Could someone please tell our ABC that the Chief Medical Officer is PAUL Kelly, not Craig Kelly?
Can't mix and match when we have little to no Pfizer available.
Say it's not true! 😱
What happened to censoring untrusted and misleading Covid information?
Pollies exhibiting their one track mind again. Has anyone ask about JnJ's 'one' shot vaccine? Repeat 'ONE' shot. It is not based on mRNA technology. So, CSL can produce it. And latest report it may be effective against Delta variant. Think of the economy and mental health ppl
Was it a good idea 2 weeks ago?
“Several countries, including Canada, Spain, and South Korea, have already approved vaccine dose-mixing”. South Korea are allowing fully vaccinated arrivals to skip hotel quarantine too. Let’s do a half step of that - Home Quarantine!
Doesn't really help Can't mix and match with only one type of vaccine
That depends... When China suggested it, it was ridiculed as a poor idea & sign of having poor vaccines. When the west suggests it, its a great idea that can make our already great vaccines even greater!!! So, tell me who is suggesting it & I'll tell you if it's good or bad
Good thinking 99
Now this would be sensible. We all get an AZ first shot (as I did) and a Pfizer second shot. Supply issues solved and better protection too.
