Sinn Féin's health spokesperson David Cullinane has said the different projections laid out by the CMO yesterday regarding the situation with Covid-19 were 'sobering and quite stark'.

Sinn Féin's health spokesperson David Cullinane has said the different projections laid out by the CMO yesterday regarding the situation with Covid-19 were "sobering and quite stark".

He said the government's job is to look at every eventuality and it has been known for the last number of weeks that NPHET had the potential to suggest pausing re-opening."We need to be making decisions as quickly as possible because we know speed is really important when you're dealing with a variant where transmissibility is much higher than other variants of this disease."

Mr Cullinane called for the government to release a revised timeframe of 'what is the finishing line, how many people need to be vaccinated' and how quickly this can happen. Amid criticism from some of his party's TDs and Senator over the plan to allow only vaccinated people inside bars and restaurants, the Taoiseach said the Government was open minded on the issue and would look at testing, protocols and vaccinations.

It was confirmed yesterday that these scenarios were prepared before the National Immunisation Advisory Committee changed its advice allowing younger people receive a greater range of vaccines. However, some ministers not on that committee understood from comments by the Taoiseach that this update had been factored into forecasts by the National Public Health Emergency Team.

In a series of tweets, Professor Philip Nolan detailed the methodology and assumptions behind the modelling which produced the figures on which the decision to defer the reopening of indoor hospitality is based.

Lmao

I say here right now that for the entire months of July and August there'll be less than 20 dead with Covid.

davidcullinane may as well be part of FG at this point he or his party are not in opposition.

😂😂😂 Mind manipulation.

So SF are proving to be an extension of FG FF and Greens.Where's any opposition apart from the likes of Ml McNamara and Mattie McGrath.Cullinane is out of touch big time with a fed up disgusted and quickly growing angry public.

Were the models independently verified as correct? As to me they seem like A. Assume full population regardless of people already recovered thus immune. B Assume vaccines are useless. C Assume death rate is 2%. D Assume transmission = 200% alpha. Unrealistic based on observation

SINN FEIN have a health spokesperson? 🤔

Delaying opening decided by fools who would be confused by simple algebra and yet we expect them to make decisions based on projections of WORST CASE SCENARIOS modelling they can't comprehend. That model is clearly based on another variant which assumes vaccines have no effect.

On the fence. Watching the vibe.

.davidcullinane said projections have to be taken seriously 'particularly given the difficulties the Delta variant is causing in the UK' All forget we can research Delta in UK rather than what CMO says

Idiocy. They use a model from Scotland to justify things even though mortality in Scotland is -95% of where it was in Jan. meanwhile still cock-ups on vaccines and people are filling the hotels and bars of NI. I feel Ireland is now a rogue state going nowhere.

What hope have we got if this is our opposition

Will SF insist on closing indoor dining in Northern Ireland.?...This is NPHET most pessimistic prediction......

SF of the 'all island approach'. They back the NPHET position down south. They are in power in the north and have allowed far more freedoms, and are not planning anything re vaccine apartheid. You cant have it every way guys. Going to ban indoor pubs in 6 counties now - delta?

They will spend 2/3 days bouncing off the walls, complaining then back in the same spot. Rates rising in UK & Europe.

So can someone say why the threat is more severe than the rest of Europe and the USA combined, or is the CMO of Ireland spot on in his assessment or is the rest of the world wrong? 🤔

It's still funny to see how many low level IQ numpties are still questioning the advise of our medical experts 😆 I hope all of you not adhering the advise given will experience the DeltaVariant and a long stay in one of our hospitals COVID19 covidireland COVIDIOTS

Some opposition they are 🙄
