NPHET has warned the Government that they will reopen at their peril with potentially thousands of cases being confirmed each day by the end of summer according to modelling.
However, the reopening is not cancelled yet, with Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, telling the Irish Mirror last night it is still on the table at today’s Cabinet meeting. Meanwhile, senior Government ministers were last night also discussing the potential of a “compromise” reopening of bars and restaurants indoors from next Monday.
One senior Government source last night told the Irish Mirror that this would be a “soft version” of the idea mooted briefly that only vaccinated people would be allowed avail of indoor dining.
