Millions of CPAP machines, ventilators, and other breathing devices are being recalled over concerns that sound-reducing foam on the devices could break down and lead to possible health risks, including cancer.

If you use devices like ventilators to sustain life, you should keep using them until you’ve consulted with a medical care provider. But the company recommends not using the bi-level PAP or CPAP devices and says you should talk with your doctor.

The recently launched next-generation CPAP platform, DreamStation 2, is not included in the recall, Philips said “We deeply regret any concern and inconvenience that patients using the affected devices will experience because of the proactive measures we are announcing today to ensure patient safety,” van Houten said in the news release.Philips: “Philips issues recall notification to mitigate potential health risks related to the sound abatement foam component in certain sleep and respiratory care devices.”© 2021 WebMD, LLC. I wish they would recall them in the UK. The hospital respiratory clinic here said 'we have not received reports of serious patient harm related to this issue' So no recall and carry on using them - but I'm not sure how they would know, if any harm has been caused.
