Canadians who have been vaccinated abroad are struggling to have their inoculation status registered upon their return, raising frustrations about not being included in tallies for provincial reopening plans that centre around vaccination rates.

TORONTO -- Retired engineer and school teacher Bill and Jennifer Graham of Toronto, Ont. have been trying to do the right thing ever since they travelled to Fort Myers, Fla., to do repairs on their residence in early January.

Graham said he informed his doctor that he was vaccinated to keep his personal records up to date, but when he attempted to let his local public health unit know of his vaccination status so they could upload it to the central COVaxON system his efforts were stalled.“They emailed me back a very polite message saying they were unable to register my vaccination status,” Graham said.

“We've called the Halton Public Health Unit twice now to tell them about our vaccinations,” Burlington, Ont.-resident Anita Sauve, who spent the winter with her family in their condo in Mexico and flew to Texas to get vaccinated, said in a telephone interview with CTVNews.ca Friday. “The first time they said, ‘that's a good point. Let me get back to you.’”

The CSA also said they had received “a number of complaints” from members that their local public health units are unable to register their vaccination status upon their return.

Such a non story.

Why were they even travelling?

Why were they traveling and risk bringing back variants?

I know! My whole family has been vaxed either abroad or from the USA. And told same thing. Unless local public health, or the province, provides a registration mechanism for this, they will not have accurate data of fully vaxed Canadians. Massive oversight & failure! 👎🏻

If they’re abroad then they are not Canadians

Oh shit. Likely not one of the vaccines approved for use in North America. These sorts of breakthrough infections can contribute to mutations/variants. Another misleading headline.
