The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, has confirmed that the death toll of Cholera has risen to 42 while 2,874 persons have been affected by the disease.In a previous report released on June 12, Mohammed said 17 persons died during that period. He released another report on Friday that another 5 persons have lost their lives.

Mohammed said that the death toll has risen to 42. According to him, Bauchi, the state capital recorded the highest number of cases with 2,185 cases with 22 deaths. Toro Local Government with 212 cases and eight deaths.Others are Ningi LGA; 92 with two deaths, Dass; 100 with three deaths, Misau; 57 with four deaths, Tafawa Balewa 102 and four deaths. Rilwanu said that the disease has spread to 15 out of the 20 local government areas.

Former Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro in May told journalists that 20 persons died of the disease while over 300 persons were admitted to different hospitals across the state.
