PETALING JAYA: The government has allocated RM80mil to increase bed capacity and ICU equipment for Covid-19 treatment in three teaching hospitals (HPU).

The three are located at Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, the Higher Education Ministry said.

“This additional allocation is set to strengthen the role of HPUs that have been ready to work with the Health Ministry in efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 since 2020. “All these HPUs have hybrid Covid-19 hospital status where non-Covid-19 patients too can continue to receive treatment and medical services,” said the ministry in a statement on Thursday .
