Tennis star Naomi Osaka said Monday she is withdrawing from the French Open after refusing to speak to the media at the grand slam.
The four-time major winner posted a statement on Twitter saying she was pulling out so that"everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris," adding that she would"take some time away from the court."Osaka revealed she had"suffered long bouts of depression" since winning her first Grand Slam title in 2018.

Players shouldn’t be required to speak to the press immediately after a game. They should be able to retreat to the locker rooms to breath and reflect. Considering the quality of the questions often asked, it breeds nothing but more stress and poor responses.

I think this is really sad. I do think the media can be really aggressive and negative in some of their post match press events. Sports people, to be playing at this level are probably already ultra critical of themselves. Good for her for recognising what is best for her.
