An independent report has found the World Health Organisation was too slow in declaring a public health emergency after the emergence of COVID-19 in China.

The WHO commissioned review also claimed "a month of inaction" allowed the disease to spread rapidly. It recommended a new global alert system to swiftly address future health threats without the approval of impacted countries. The panel also called on wealthy nations to fund vaccines, drugs, and medical supplies for the world. The damning findings will be debated at a global assembly later this month.
