For the first time in about seven weeks, new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 nationwide fell below 6,000, the Department of Health reported Tuesday, May 4, 2021.The daily positivity rate also declined to below 15 percent for the first time since the 14.9 percent on March 22, 2021.

There were 9,028 recoveries, bringing the total to 984,210, or 92.2 percent of the cumulative case count.As of May 4, the Covid-19 case count in the Philippines stood at 1,067,892. On May 3, Duque said NCR had 26,698 active cases out of the 69,466 total active cases in the country.
