The Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said "no private school should have received vaccines from a private hospital".
The hospital said that given it was the AstraZeneca vaccine, there "were limitations as to who this could be administered to". Mr Reid said there were clear guidelines on a regular basis that there can be no ambiguity around how you arrange vaccine clinics and how back-up lists should be organised in advance.
The hospital said that on Tuesday, there were "over 200 HSE no shows" to scheduled vaccine appointments, as a result of people being double booked at the Aviva Stadium. "I sincerely apologise for the upset that this decision has caused and we are updating our approach to our back up list to ensure that this situation does not arise again."
"This is a kick in the teeth to the frontline doctors, nurses and other HSE staff who have put their lives on the line to protect us and our loved ones over the past 12 months. Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Claire Byrne, Ms McEntee said she was frustrated to hear that this is happening. Aoife Stokes, whose 64-year-old mother is in Category 4 of the vaccine priority list and is also a patient at the Beacon Hospital undergoing cancer treatment, said she is "absolutely livid".
Donnelly won’t do anything. That’s in his job description as minister for health.

It's not right what happened but I don't see the logic in not vaccinating school teachers but not in an underhand way that it happened and for the record I'm not a teacher or have school going children

The bigger story is the shambles that led to 200 no-shows because they had been double booked at another place. They have to get on top of that administration and then they won't be hunting around for people to jab.

Paul Reid in response to this said on radio this morning that he is extremely frustrated when protocol is not followed as most of us are. But The HSE did not follow protocol themselves when they vaccinated back room admin staff. He is never held to account by the media .

Beacon Hospital was the only private hospital that didn't give ICU capacity when the HSE was near breaking point. It's a shame that this doesn't seem to be the first time they'd do this.

I am a trained Cardiac First Responder. I have attended many emergency situations in my place of work and on the public street. As I am not vaccinated and not considered a priority to be vaccinated, I had to withdraw from performing this vital emergency life saving service.
Wasn’t cool but they have administered 3 times more vaccines in 30 minutes than Paul Reid in the entire country on Sunday...
