Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has singled out Extinction Rebellion protesters who he says "regularly harassed" staff and occupied his office, as he sympathised with outgoing MP Nicolle Flint's experiences of abuse in parliament. "Nicolle Flint was subject to terrible treatment. I must say the people who have been named - and some of them seem to be proud of their work - in Extinction Rebellion; they were occupying my office every week and harassing staff," he said.

We need to - in this country - be able to have disagreements on political views in a civil way. "No abuse should happen to any parliamentarian or staff member and I condemn any abuse. Nicolle Flint was subject to terrible treatment. The Labor leader did suggest, however, Ms Flint's criticisms of his party's failure to call out the abuse and harassment she experienced in her South Australian campaign was a "political comment".
