Australia is ‘leading the world’ out of the global pandemic: PM | Sky News Australia

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Australia is “leading the world” out of the global pandemic and is doing better than "almost every other advanced economy" at protecting livelihoods. Speaking at The Australian Financial Review Business Summit in Sydney, Mr Morrison labelled 2020 the “toughest" year the nation had seen since the Great Depression and World War II. “But here we are, leading the world out of the global pandemic and the global recession it caused,” he said.

“Above all, Australians in millions of acts of patience, of caring, kindness and responsibility, stood up, looked after each other, did their bit and succeeded in pulling Australia through." The prime minister said Australia’s remarkable performance in saving lives - with the third-lowest COVID-19 mortality rate among G20 nations - is the “first point of conversation” when he speaks with foreign leaders.
