BAGUIO CITY – The City Health Service Office (CHSO) recorded 85 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and a fatality on Monday, January 25.

That brought to 90 the total number of deaths in this city since March. It was also the 25Of the 85 new cases, 42 were contact traced, eight were traced through expanded testing, 32 were symptomatic, and four others were discovered in relation to other medical reasons.There are now a total of 107,335 RT – PCR tests conducted in the city, with 85 or 17.31 percent testing positive for COVID-19 from the 491 tests done on Monday.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered a fresh offensive against violators of health and safety protocols in the city as the city tightened its guard against the new more infective variant of coronavirus disease . Magalong said, tourists and visitors, who will not follow the city’s rules on the wearing of face masks and shields, physical distancing and the like, will be asked to leave the city despite fulfilling the travel requirements prior to entry.

Baguio City Police Director Col. Allen Rae Co said police personnel manning the border Quarantine Checkpoints will further intensify inspection of documents of travelers coming to the city, especially those from the National Capital Region, where the country’s first case of the new variant came from.
