The Senate Committee of the Whole will start its inquiry on the national government’s over-all COVID-19 vaccination program Monday with the goal of eliciting more information from the Department of Health (DoH) and other task force leaders on how they intend to roll-out the vaccines to groups includ

As far as they are concerned, senators said they observed that heads of the state’s task force against COVID-19 are giving vague pronouncements particularly with regards to the availability of vaccines needed to combat the pandemic.

Lacson said he will inquire as well the government’s “dropping the ball” on at least two opportunities when it could have gotten vaccines from US-based Pfizer and China-based Sinopharm. Lacson also said that while the Senate may take up the issue of the Presidential Security Group getting vaccinated first, the priority should be on getting vaccines available for Filipinos. “It’s a matter of prioritization,” he said.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon had earlier said that the PSG chief should be called to attend the hearing to shed light on the controversial early vaccination among President Duterte’s security aides. “Marami talagang excited sa aming mga kasamahan sa Senado at sa ating taongbayan na gustong makinig bukas kung ano ba ang plano ng gobyerno sa vaccine, anong bibilhin, saan galing, at timeline kung kelan matatatanggap ng mga kapatid natin sa Mindanao, Visayas, at Luzon ,” Zubiri said.
