HOLDING a general election in a national health emergency will have dire consequences, said a public policy think-tank. Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy chief executive Azrul Mohd Khalib said Malaysia does not have the capacity to organise elections that allow voters to safely participate in campaign activities and cast their votes during an epidemic of communicable disease.

This may imply the Agong won’t consent to elections. If PM TSMY loses vote of confidence, the Agong may appoint another MP who has majority support to be PM.
