NSW authorities have again hit out businesses which aren't doing the right thing, as contact tracers struggle to track down patrons who dined at a Sydney restaurant visited by a person with COVID-19.

A frustrated Premier Gladys Berejiklian warned there is no excuse for non-compliance seven months after the pandemic was declared.

"We will throw the book at anybody who doesn't have a COVID-safe plan, who not only doesn't have a QR code system in place but doesn't even have a sign-in system in place," she told reporters on Monday.'We haven't beaten it yet': Australians warned not to become complacent as coronavirus cases plunge"You think that it's a remote possibility that someone comes to your business that is infected, but this highlights that it can happen," she said.

Another child, who also attended the park at the same time as a known case, was diagnosed late on Thursday night. Anyone who attended the park from 11am to 2pm on 25 October must get tested immediately and isolate for a full 14 days regardless of the result. All staff and children who attended on those days are close contacts and must be tested for the virus immediately and isolate for a fully 14 days regardless of the result.People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others. Check your jurisdiction's restrictions on gathering limits.

Something isn’t right in NSW & it states at the top. Flagrant corruption tends to make a populace less likely to adhere to the rules - leading by example. notoveryet

Isn’t the Covidsafe app for contact tracing,if not why did the government spend so much of our money on it

Do it!

Stephen77056387 Cannot blame the contact tracers, not in NSW or Vic. There is only so much they can do. It’s on Federal Government to bring in messaging across Australia as we open up, that puts the onus on business and patrons. Oh and maybe a tracing app?

After the media demonised Victorians for the virus, are people going to hide if they have symptoms in NSW?

Most of the restaurants I been to the staff only ask me to scan the QR code but not even check if I really did to do it? Not very safe

It should be mandatory

And which QR code companies sell our details for marketing purposes?

What? Isn't NSW gold standard 🤣

Which restaurant?

Is she going to buy smart phones for those of us who don’t have then?

Wonder if this relates back to 👇👇 as this went very quiet quickly nswpol

It’s always someone else’s fault GladysB ... how’s Scotty’s App .... hahaha 🤮

but ⭐️ Gladys said her contact tracing and covid safe protocol and blah blah blah were the best. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On our construction site we wear a tag that registers anyone around us for 2min or longer with similar tag. If someone has covid tag Bluetooth is accessed and names of relevant Ppl revield it's better than the app, why are they not compulsory?

Gold standard?

Maybe they destroyed their records. People just do that for no reason sometimes

Try teaching people how we live in this country, which includes speaking English, would be a step in the right direction. Note all the issues we've had in Sydney have been in the west & south west where you'd be lucky to hear English being spoken

2nd wave on its way in NSW. Comes back to bite you in the butt.

SBS Dan Andrews has a fax based system NSW could use if people don't know what a QR Code is yet.

I’ve walked straight back out of three cafes recently that have had no tracing set up. One other had the QR code stuck to the table but relied on the public to do the right thing, no request from staff to sign in, we did sign in because we’re not idiots.

slsandpet You mean QR codes are not compulsory by now. Strewth how stupid

F QR Codes. Give us the Dining/Travel ID Card or NOTHING. GladysMustGo DictatorGladys

Fair enough. The government can't be blamed for individual mistakes so if extra measures are needed they should be enacted.

roberthartleyf1 And yet she wants the borders open.

Well the ‘GOLD Standard’ appears to be working well. “Without naming any venues, Ms Berejiklian said contract tracing for NSW Health at the moment was 'very difficult' because 'people in charge did not do the right thing'. COVIDIOTS auspol

If only the Federal Govt would integrate QR code processing into its COVIDSafe App. What is it waiting for GladysB, BradHazzard, healthgovau ? COVID19Aus

No wonder NSW people don’t do the right thing when their Premier doesn’t either.

But gold standard...

I'm not a fan of LNP but I do not wish NSW a second wave like we did in Vic. So, do something if not all businesses are doing the right thing.

Why is there a govt supplier of QR codes? Why isn't govt collecting and storing the exact information required? Service NSW has a reader on their app but so far it hasn't worked for me on 3rd party codes. Shades of the federal covid app?

COVID19Victoria should also make QR mandatory and/or paper registry. Enforced. If we get the virus again, this weekend I understood why hospitality is such a big risk.

GoldStandard KoalaKiller & according to ScottyFromMarketing & NewsCorpse GoldStandard tracing No 🍩🍩🍩 for NSW or the divisive, mean spirited, 'we don't follow the science' Federal Govt.

I thought NSW was the gold standard?

So is the government fault? If that was Victoria it would be. Business and individuals failing to do the right thing....geee didn't see that coming!!!

You cannot make QR codes mandatory. Some phones don't support it.

Things are going well it seems...

More threats, no leadership

But they have the world's best Gold Star awarded contact tracers, what's the problem Gladys? Time for daily pressers to get the word out

slsandpet But... but... Baxenfail said at Dan's presser that NSW was using QR codes and why wasn't Victoria and therefore you should resign (maybe not the last bit...). I'm confused thisisnotjournalism COVID19Vic mediafail springst COVID19nsw

So what happened to the gold standard covidapp ScottMorrisonMP GregHuntMP ?

Patrons walk past sign ins. Business can’t watch all of the time. And it’s all a symptom of the lack of seriousness lazyGladys has allowed to develop. Shame we didn’t have Dan Andrews. Lucky to see a mask now in NSW. covidiots

I assumed it was already mandatory come on GladysB make it mandatory for NSW

Of couse now NSW would say that contact tracing relies on public cooperation. Pity they didn't say that when Vic contact tracers were under attack.

Just make everyone scan the QR code. Be it casual take away or dine in Safe bet . And Yes make it mandatory. That way it’s across and spread of infection by the pen is eliminated.

'Do the right thing!' Coming from a bunch of corrupt politicians who always fail to do the right thing! I wonder why many people don't listen to the official message? gladysmustgo pissheroff

Gold standard lol

But I thought NSW was ⭐️

Take their licenses, shut them down, and ban the directors from trading for 5 years . I know so many publicans doing the right thing.. and restaurant owners .. it’s tough, but they are doing the right thing.

Just bloody do it GladysB The big lesson of COVID19 is no matter what drastic action you take it will be justified within two weeks. If you don't act now you will have to do it soon anyway. Look at UK Could have had two weeks in September now looking at 4 wks plus nswpol

oh, so COVIDsafe sunscreen doesn't work? auspol LNPfail COVID19

SBS

Don't threaten, just do it and massive fines for noncompliance

Yeah, that’s gold 🤔 GladysMustGo

Stop threatening and do it Gladys. Maybe offer to save a koala every time someone checks in.

Why wouldn't they be complacent, the LNP give them the impression that all that matters is open borders.
