MMA said the delay in testing samples has severely affected the ability to trace contacts and isolate infected individuals to prevent the spread of the infection.
In a statement, Malaysian Medical Association president Dr Subramaniam Muniandy said the situation in areas under a conditional movement control order , including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, should improve. Sabah is the worst-hit state with 11,285 cases recorded to date, with 889 cases alone recorded yesterday.“The daily numbers reported may be much less than actual numbers considering the delays in reporting test results, contact tracing and isolation of infected individuals.”
Sabah ‘s infection and death rate, he added, is “many folds” above the national rate, making it among the highest in the country.
