As of October 23, the case recovery rate in the US was at 39.88%, while the global case recovery rate was at 67.97%, based on the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine COVID-19 dashboard.US President Donald Trump made this claim during the presidential debate on October 23.He made this claim during the final presidential debate on Friday, October 23, Manila time. On the topic of the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump said,"99.9 [percent] of young people recover. 99% of people recover.
It is important to note that case fatality rate – computed using the number of confirmed deaths and confirmed cases andin a specific context, time, and population – is not the same as infection fatality rate, which reflects the likelihood that someone infected with COVID-19 will die.
Fake news. Trump is right.
Rappler : 'we didn't understand what Trump meant, so we are going to make our own interpretation, which fits our narrative' So you are saying 67% of people recover? In worldmeters, you can find 96% recovery from closed cases which makes more sense than your numbers.
What is the definition of recovery?
Get a little closer to stating a 'fact' by dividing today's Cumulative Cases Recovered into the Cumulative Confirmed Cases as of abt 30 days ago. CDC uses 30 days as the average 'recovery period' (when a non-fatal outcome is accounted for) for COVID cases. FAIL
Scientists and researchers have data only on confirmed cases, so they can’t count people not tested for COVID-19. Experts also don’t have info about outcome[s]. However, early estimates predict overall COVID-19 recovery rate is 97% to 99.75%.
U don't get 'case recovery rate' concept (i.e., NOT = total cum recoveries / total cum cases), so pls don't do COVID 'fact checking'. 'Recovery' relates only to 'cases with outcomes' (look it up). OTOH WebMD says overall recovery rate is 97% to 99.75%. FAIL
This is horrible fact checking. If the fatality rate is 2.65%, Rappler thinks recovery rate is 38.88%? 1/3 of the total number of cases are active but that number is also subject to the same fatality rate. googlenews
