You might've hoped the pandemic would cancel sick season — but the annual arrival of allergies, colds and flu is still right on schedule in the U.S. Here are a few steps to improve your chances of staying healthy:

Is that sneezing or coughing fit a sign of allergies, a cold, the flu or COVID-19? If you also have a fever — a temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher — those symptoms probably signal infection and not just allergies acting up. In my clinic, that means a flurry of visits and calls from patients worried about their runny noses, coughs and sore throats. Before the emergence of COVID-19, it was already tough for patients to know how seriously to take those common symptoms. Allergies and colds are mostly just a nuisance, but a severe case of the flu can kill.between 12,000 and 61,000 people in the U.S. each year, and COVID-19 has already killed more than 200,000, just since February.

Those big combined numbers of deaths can be scary, especially if you've skipped or postponed your usual health routines and check-ins with a doctor this year. Now's the time to get back in gear: Here are a few steps to improve your chances of staying healthy, even during sick season.Do this now. Being an established patient can help you more quickly get in to see a doctor or other health care provider when you get sick.

a clinician who already knows your medical history when you call helps, too — the clinician may feel more comfortable making certain treatment recommendations online or over the phone and will know when it's better to have you come in for a physical exam because you have certain risk factors.Primary care providers, as well as pharmacists, can help track whatever vaccinations you need — and those immunizations are especially important during a pandemic.

Here’s a novel idea, won’t help with allergies but will with colds and flu - wear a mask and maintain social distancing.

If you look at the graphic a certain way the green blanket is a frog and the cup of tea is the eye.

The article doesn't go into details about hand washing, which it needs to. Hand washing can greatly reduce the number of colds and cases of influenza each year.

WEAR A MUTHAFUNKING MASK. That's it. Just wear the mask.

The combo of pandemic, election, crazy politics, and allergies is wreaking havoc on me. I wake up every morning exhausted.

So wait, we're all masked up, locked down, and socially distanced but still all gonna get sick? So you admit this was all for nothing and won't stop diseases?

The best prep is eat better, drink water, get exercise, get outside and don't breathe in your own germs all day.

Yes it is, I just got over a cold today!!

You hoping the pandemic would be over by this season ? It s not. Your annual hunt for a winter F Buddy has arrived . Its cold, he flew, y a need a new. 1

Wear a mask, wash your hands and keep your distance?

Hi npr What are the CDCgov numbers on the flu? Hahaha good luck getting those. Wonder where NPR got the numbers since they are not counted

Every spring and fall, allergies were my greatest concern, this year, they are my least. Take a number allergies!

Why would it cancel sick season if not enough people are treating it like a pandemic?

In Australia over winter we've actually had a very mild 'sick' season, reduced reporting of colds and flu. The reason? Hygiene, physical distancing, work from home. Quite remarkable

This is message for you ABC news and all news and world news please share with your governments and your society

Yet it is practically a guaranteed millions will be mislead into thinking they have the China Virus, and tests will come up with false positives from the common cold, flu, allergies, creating more fear of another spike in cases....

This election is not about the virus, or social justice, or one man's personality. The Democrats have adopted a Marxist ideology. They will steal this election, change voting laws and cheat infinitely to retain power. No accountability for their corruption. Vote for freedom

I’m not sure who, with a working brain would think a pandemic would get rid of a “sick season” . It will just make things worse I’d expect

Ooh we pray for better life
