The Chair of the National Public Health Emergency Team's coronavirus expert advisory group has said work is ongoing to bring the country's testing capacity to a level that it needs to be at.

Speaking on RTÉ's Saturday with Katie Hannon, Dr Cillian De Gascun said there was a lot of fixation over a capacity figure over the past number of months, but that the HSE has done huge work from a procurement perspective to ensure there is a resilience and robustness that was not there in March or April.

"So that information feeds into the system and that makes you realise that the capacity is not sufficient. He said nothing is inevitable with regard to restrictions, but they do know there are worrying trends across the country. He said every time new measures are implemented in an area, NPHET expects to see the results over the course of the next two weeks, adding that they are looking to see a stabilisation of Dublin cases soon.He said we need to get through this year on the back of public health messaging, adding that it would be a positive step to have a vaccine available by the winter of 2021.

While it was too early to tell for sure, he said we should take this "as encouragement to maintain and redouble our efforts". — Professor Philip Nolan September 26, 2020 The HSE chief executive Paul Reid took to Twitter today to urge people not to knock the younger generation, but to galvanise them.

Does anyone know the current wait time for a test? Currently awaiting a test for a school child since a Monday?

Have you challenged these criminals to ask why are they testing everybody for a Corona Virus in their DNA that is nothing more than a dead flu but with which they are using to shut down a country?

SaturdayRTE The question is though, why wasn't this done in May or June? Poor planning. Really poor.

WHO says they asymptomatic cases are not infectious

You teabagging tossers will not run this but your 'free' competition will.

😴😴😴😴 Scamdemic ScumMedia RTÉ Did I miss your report on Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s involvement in human trafficking? Is your Washington correspondant Brian O'Donovan on holidays?

FergalBowers The only test in town that cant tell you how bad the infection is or if its active....just tells you its been there at some stage. The yes / no game.

FergalBowers The so called experts are running out of things to say. So they have moved on to talking in circles.

What’s the cycle threshold of the tests? He said the commercial ones the HSE use are 35-45. Is it still that? We can use a lower threshold if we order our own.

They are doing nearly 100k per week which is considerable, lab capacity will be increased but u also need additional qualified staff that will take a bit of time.

Waste of an interview from KatieGHannon with Dr. Du Gascun. There was an increased testing with the return to school but no increase in cases. Surely testing criteria is too low and we're wasting resources on kid's runny noses instead on protecting vulnerable populations.

He's talking through his 🕳, one minute he says the system doesnt have the capacity, then says you cant put a figure on what capacity is required, people are fast getting fed up of this crap,

Nphet are enemies of the Irish people. A bunch of private school lads telling the country how to live. Shambles
