The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal last week vowed to take legal action against the provincial Department of Health.Simelane-Zulu said the department’s managers had embarked on an assessment of health facilities’ accommodation last year.Simelane-Zulu said the accommodation had been provided for a specific time, according to a lease agreement.
However, she said, at some hospitals, there were people still staying there who no longer worked at the facilities. “In other facilities, there are health workers living there for 12 years, and some are retired and are living in these facilities.”
