Health Minister Greg Hunt says new advice from the University of Melbourne has given the Andrews government the opportunity to “redo the roadmap” and set “achievable targets”. The Health Minister told Sky News academics from the university have indicated modelling produced by the institution should not be used to “justify zero cases as the basis for the roadmap”. “They’ve encouraged Victoria to redo the roadmap,” Mr Hunt said.
“I think the improvement in contact tracing and the statements from the University of Melbourne mean we really have the opportunity now to work with Victoria, for them to work with the business community and the academic and medical community". Mr Hunt also said the Victorian government had finally adopted measures proposed by the Commonwealth which included working with NSW to develop an automated streamlined contact tracing system and the introduction of local public health units.
