KUALA LUMPUR: More than 27,000 people have returned from abroad since July 24, including 69 people who were sent to hospitals for treatment, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister said the remaining returnees were placed in 69 hotels and eight public training institutes for mandatory quarantine.

"So far, 10,097 people are still undergoing mandatory quarantine while 16,935 have been discharged and allowed to return home. "They returned from various countries including France, Australia, the United States, Egypt and Japan," he said in a statement on Saturday . On construction sites, five construction sites abided by the standard operating procedures while another was not operational following inspections on Friday , he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry performed their daily inspections of 12 essential items on Friday at 705 business premises."Traders and customers must practise social distancing and personal hygiene especially when purchasing items," he said.
