Because most positive tests are probably old infections and show the virus has been around a long time and many more people have had it, recovered and likely immune.
Everybody should have access to a test. The messages our government are putting out regarding “misuse of tests” infuriates me.

Public health wants asymptomatic people tested. We are fighting a virus being supported by an inadequate, incompetent, lying, government who developed a inadequate test and trace system ran by its well paid, incompetent friends.

Large percentage of infections are asymptomatic, tests without symptoms is vital. Holiday goers have responsibility for the people in the land they would visit, so must test before travel.

Putting people off for getting a test, regardless of symptoms, could be a shooting yourself in the foot moment. I know a few who have had the test, NHS and paid for, none had symptoms but this should provide helpful information. And ease of mind for those for the time being.

My daughter went to A&E last night(sent by the BMT ward), she has a high temp, cough & a sore throat. Oncology said to test for C19, A&E sent us home with paracetamol and fingers crossed it goes away in a couple of days. So even if you have symptoms you still don't get a test

Tested (for legitimate reasons) 5 days ago at a drive in centre, no result yet, have been told they are investigating but it may mean results are lost! That was following a home testing kit which arrived with no swab so I was told to discard it - what a waste.
People with breathlessness have been misusing ventilators. Hancock has been misusing NHS money by giving it to cronies. Won't Cummings let the BBC cover that?

I don’t get it. If you’ve been in contact with a person with COVID then you may catch it and be asymptomatic so the only way to find out and stop spreading it is to get tested. Simple.

Everyone going in and out of a hospital in-patient stay and everyone going into a care home gets tested even if they don’t have symptoms. Nothing is ever simple with this.
I know this is going on as two people I have seen which are elderly have admitted there daughters are ordering home tests without them having any symptoms,why would people waste resources like this 😠

What did they expect? When they enforce travel bans (in the form of quarantine), of course people are going to look for ways around it. I would say their game of bingo with countries and the naughty list has a direct correlation to people taking precautionary tests.

Just because the limited symptoms displayed aren’t consistent with what you have, doesn’t mean you don’t have it and when you’re told to get a test because you have other symptoms, you get one. How is that misuse?

When the majority of people with the virus are asymptomatic it surely makes sense to provide testing for everyone whether they have symptoms or not! He’s just passing the buck for not having enough tests to go around. The whole cabinet need a reshuffle. Hancock is useless!

Covid 19 was identified in 2019. Biological tests include taking a swab from the nasal cavity to collect cells which are tested in a lab, a vaccine is being developed in months. How many biological tests does psychiatry have for 295 mental illnesses?
