ZURICH/GENEVA - Safety of a prospective COVID-19 vaccine comes “first and foremost”, the World Health Organization’s chief scientist said on Wednesday, as a trial of a leading candidate from AstraZeneca was paused due to concerns over side effects.
“Just because we talk about speed...it doesn’t mean we start compromising or cutting corners on what would normally be assessed,” Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said in a social media event. The vaccine, which AstraZeneca is developing with the University of Oxford, has previously been described by the WHO as probably the world’s leading candidate and the most advanced in terms of development.
WHO will check on all vaccine made by different countries for safety but will most likely close both eyes and ears and help 🇨🇳 to get international approval for any of their vaccines....
WHO Top priority to check on other vaccine safety but with China close both eyes and approve it regardless of safety....
The pause in this study is exactly why it would be the height of irresponsibility to approve a vaccine before the SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS has been fully evaluated in the entire study cohort just to achieve a political gain.
Why!!!!!!!!!!!? Some people will get a reaction..... it's obvious!!!!
It’s a right decision, I guess.
I am glad they are tasking this precaution. Shows they are serious about a vaccine.
I’d like to know more about the “unexplained illness” in test subjects taking the vaccine ... wouldn’t you?
A major setback..ugh..
