London Talking robots that interact with older people could be introduced into care homes to help fight loneliness and mental ill health.
Pepper, a"culturally competent robot," was tested on care home residents in Britain and Japan -- those who interacted with it for up to 18 hours over the course of two weeks"saw a significant improvement in their mental health," researchers found.Pepper was part of a large global study known as CARESSES, jointly funded by the European Union and the Japanese government, which investigated the use of artificial intelligence in caring for the elderly.
What the actual fuk!! We are failing at being human
I'll pass. I still remember when those robots turned on their elderly owners in IROBOT! 😆
If I could choose being with me or with a robot, I’d choose the robot!
Yeah, so could talking to your toaster.🙄
hope it can convince these old people in Florida to not believe Fox News n Trump
But how was peppers bumbum
Can they try it on DementiaJoe? He could definitely use a 'significant improvement in (his) mental health.'
Technology is absolutely amazing
thank u for let someone out from loneliness
Imagine how many people in care homes died because they couldn't see their grand kids. They were already dying but died a lot faster because of depression.
Thats dumb as hell, now that shows that people are lazy to talk with someone that has that illness. No matter what its basically talking to a brick wall still, even if it talks. Get you sh*t together people. Lazy f***s
