The IZA study concludes that the rally generated public health costs of approximately $12.2 billion.

Andrew Friedson, associate professor of Economics at the University of Colorado, over 250,000 Covid-19 cases reported nationwide between August 2 and September 2 are due to the rally, which would account for approximately 19% of cases in the U.S. during this timeframe.

The paper also attempted to determine the economic impact of the rally and claims that"if we conservatively assume that all of these cases were non-fatal, then these cases represent a cost of over $12.2 billion, based on the statistical cost of a Covid-19 case of $46,000 estimated by"This is enough to have paid each of the estimated 462,182 rally attendees $26,553.64 not to attend,"

, although it adds that"this is by no means an accurate accounting of the true externality cost of the event, as it counts those who attended and were infected as part of the externality when their costs are likely internalized.""Now we're all here together tonight. And we're being human once again. F*ck that Covid sh*t.

Such Bullshit! Come on Forbes. Geez. Just lost a viewer .

I personally know over 50 people that went to that event and not one got the virus. Stop the fear mongering

SDSUCHEPS Bogus like the original COVID projections. Do you remember the “modeling” that was done for COVID doom and gloom projections? Same BS here, there is no way they can track all of these people. Politics masquerading as fact!

ucsbman The first line says it all....this would carry more weight if it was the work of epidemiologists and not economists.....this goes triple for politicians, on this virus folks need to stay in their lanes and stop muddying the waters!

larrybrilliant More lives lost than all the protests in the last 50 years put together

larrybrilliant Can effected jurisdictions place demands on South Dakota & Sturgis for uninsured medical expenses?

SDSUCHEPS Disaster of the first order due to arrogance and ignorance. Sturgis

larrybrilliant It’s become their identity. While half the nation pleads for empathy and helping one another during a pandemic, the other half are willing to do anything to feel important - anything to feel pride - anything to spew their hate in public - anything to win. VoteForDemocracy

Forbes is a joke

Reading the actual report now - I don't understand how 250k cases estimated, yet 'Stugis CoVID cases Links' via Google locates articles where dozens are connected to Sturgis, why not thousands linked to Sturgis? On the clock reporting cannot connect this? moreinfoneeded

Low Vitamin D Might Raise Odds of COVID InfectionThere's evidence that low blood levels of the 'sunshine vitamin' -- vitamin D -- may increase a person's risk of infection with the new coronavirus, researchers say. I take c and d daily. Better get at least 20 mts exposure to sunlight per day. I don't understand the reason for these studies while the pandemic is still active. It causes more confusion amongst people.
