'No one is above the law. Not even a governor. Not even during a pandemic,' writes Jordan Warnsholz for usatodayopinion.

Dangers looms when one person tries to regulate the lives of millions. Whitmer’s orders are a case in point. One banned anyand elective surgeries. This broad elimination of medical care shows a shocking ignorance of how medicine works.

Similarly, elective surgeries aren’t unimportant or unnecessary. They’re simply procedures that can be scheduled in advance. They can and regularly do save lives, both in the short- and long-term. There’s no doubt that banning these proceduresTake the story of an elderly woman who I see quite often. Before the pandemic hit, she needed a routine procedure that would have restored blood flow to her leg and allowed her to walk. Whitmer’s order outlawed that procedure.

Another one of my patients had emergency surgery for kidney stones, but could not receive critical follow-up care because of the governor’s orders. Sure enough, he wound up right back in the hospital with an infection, sepsis and kidney failure, which landed him in critical care for weeks. We rushed him to the nearest hospital, but it was too late. His foot had to be amputated. And then, just days later, he died from complications.

usatodayopinion But the DNC has no problem with tyrants as long as it is their tyrants ruling go on... tell me how you like the monarch...

usatodayopinion She can executive order all of Michigan to only take shits on their lawn right now and because she is playing two emergency statutes together specifically the 1945 MI Emergency statute. There is nothing the Legislature or any governmental body can do about it. No check to balance

usatodayopinion Did Jordan make the decision not to assist the patient based on advice from a lawyer or did he choose to interpret the executive order in such a way that it fit his end political goal of whining about Democrats?

usatodayopinion Wow being critical of a lefty governor. I’m shocked

usatodayopinion Sounds like the medical community should 1) change the term elective 2) meet with legislature to change the law to allow for medically necessary procedures. This isn't about executive power, it is about how medical procedures are scheduled.

usatodayopinion This Governor has done a very poor job overall

usatodayopinion

usatodayopinion Instead of being our deliverance, she has a strange resemblance to a cat named Frankenstein.

usatodayopinion so because these people clearly had issues from not taking care of their own health like diabetes which is self-inflicted cuz my brother just died from the same thing is somehow the fault of the governor? They wouldn't have been in that situation had they taken care of themselves

usatodayopinion Vote Republican!

usatodayopinion Is the source of this story the same Maxil facial surgeon I heard giving COVID advice in a Trump ad?

usatodayopinion So, PA training is not as extensive as Med School, but it evidently includes legal training on Executive power and the MI Constitution. Fascinating. I mean, I'm assuming that USA Today wouldn't give a platform to someone unqualified just so they can repeat talking points, right?

usatodayopinion Give her a medal for all the crap she put up with for trying to keep her constituency safe. Armed morons marching on the state house is a RIDICULOUS reaction to masking and social distancing
