After their father was diagnosed with leukaemia five years ago, brothers Omar and Zane Sabre needed a quick way to make cash.

Faced with mounting bills for university and their dad's medical treatment, the brothers invested about $65,000 to launch their accessories business, Maison de Sabre, in 2017 with a single product – a leather phone cover. The first year of the business was chaotic. "After spending five or six years studying, leaving dentistry can sound quite risky to some but ... [Dad] believed in us from day one," says Zane.
