Chief Executive of the National Mental Health Commission Christine Morgan says in battling mental health issues triggered by the pandemic, people need to hold onto hope and remain connected with others.

Experts have said the extended lockdown in Victoria which is forcing people to live in a state of isolation is having a significant impact on mental health. During the first lockdown, calls to Lifeline increased by more than 20 per cent and anecdotal stories from those living under the strict COVID-19 measures highlighted loneliness and lack of emotional outlets as key struggles.
