The train, Phelophepa Healthcare Train II, arrived for the first time in the province in its 26 years of existence and was expected to offer medical service for four weeks.

It will move from Springs to Olifantsfontein and then to Dube. On Wednesday, acting Gauteng Health MEC Jacob Mamabolo welcomed the historic arrival of the train at the Springs railway station.

The train arrived for the first time in the province in its 26 years of existence and was expected to service citizens for four weeks.The train arrived in Springs on 31 August and was expected to service the area until 11 September before moving to Olifantsfontein from 14 to 25 September and Dube station from 28 September until 09 October.

The train's onboard services included screening patients for cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis and HIV/Aids tests.
