The Florida Department of Health has cut all ties with Quest Diagnostics after the state says the company did not report nearly 75,000 Covid-19 test results dating back to April

$5 rapid Covid-19 tests will be sent to states starting in mid-September, Giroir saidThis image provided by Abbott Laboratories in August 2020 shows the company's BinaxNOW rapid COVID-19 nasal swab test. Abbott Laboratories via AP

This antigen test, called the BinaxNOW Covid-19 Ag Card, uses a nasal swab and requires no instrument to read it. The test costs $5 a piece and Giroir said 48 million a month will be available in the United States. It is authorized to be used on people doctors or nurses suspect may have Covid-19 within the first seven days that the person shows symptoms. Giroir said the tests have a “remarkable sensitivity and specificity” in this context of 97.1% and 98.5% respectively. It has a false negative rate of under 3%.

Giroir, the assistant secretary for health at the US Department of Health and Human Services said his department, along with the US Food and Drug Administration and Abbott Labs, have been working on an inexpensive point of care test that “literally for months.”

Terrific. Has anyone looked at Pennsylvania? We're 10 days now waiting for results. If QuestDX doesn't have the reagents they shouldn't take the dam work, too.

They have also stopped taking walk ins, even though their website says they do. And they don’t reserve any space for someone who needs same day labwork. It took an hour for my insurance company to find a different lab to run my labs today, because not one quest had any appts.

I live in Nevada and am 70 years old. In August I took a drive thru test CVS. 19 days later after several calls I got results. And they use LabCorp

Because the lying policy of Ron DeSantis continues

RevJJackson Well at least there's still SOME integrity in Florida.

RevJJackson Ah yes, the free market is great for public health. 🙄

In January, President Trump acted quickly to restrict travel from foreign nationals traveling from China.

We apologize for this matter and regret the challenge it poses for public health authorities in Florida. The issue has since been resolved. Importantly, the issue did not affect or delay the reporting of test results to providers and patients. Read more:

And they waited THIS long?

oh CNN 😂😂

Hmmm... seems like not reporting COVID__19 testing is EXACTLY the kind of thing GovRonDeSantis and the rest of the virus denying death-merchants would want?
