The Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, on Monday began the hearing of case charges of alleged negligence against two medical doctors – Adeshina Jenrola, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon; and Silas Ochejele, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, in Madonna hospital, Benue State.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, the Prosecution Counsel, Sanusi Musa, said, “Most of the charges have to do with the issue of a patient who went for a procedure to remove the fibroid. But she eventually ended up with her hand amputated. “In such a case, the doctors cannot be allowed to go scot-free because she has lost a hand now. Most especially, she is a secretary and all her work has to do with her two hands. Now she doesn’t have one. This can affect her source of livelihood, and it is not sending a good signal about the medical profession.”
