Dr Ronan Glynn warns to expect coronavirus cases in schoolchildren in open letter to parents

The Acting Chief Medical Officer has moved to reassure parents surrounding Covid-19 outbreaks in schools in an open letter.

“But when this happens our public health teams in the HSE will respond and liaise closely with the school involved and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to protect other students and school staff. Dr Glynn said the decision to reopen schools was based on guidance by the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.
