With seven new COVID-19 cases in NSW and the Sydney CBD cluster growing to 28, NSW Health is urging people to wear face masks on public transport as pressure mounts on the Berejiklian government to make masks mandatory for commuters

Broadway shopping centre in Ultimo has also told customers that a person who tested positive to COVID-19 visited the homewares store House on August 24 at 2pm.

Anybody who was at the store at that time should monitor for symptoms and self-isolate if necessary. The store was closed for a deep clean on Sunday. Broadway shopping centre said in a community statement that based on the current health advice, shoppers who visited other stores in the centre at that time, or who visited House at another time, should not be alarmed.

One of the new cases diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday was a returned traveller in hotel quarantine and another was locally acquired with the source still under investigation. Meanwhile, Justice Health revealed that a staff member at the Surry Hills police cells complex has tested positive to coronavirus. In a statement, NSW Health said the community must remain "vigilant" as COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community."People should ensure that they stay at least 1.5m from others and that they wear a mask in situations - especially on public transport - where physical distancing is difficult," NSW Health said.

billbowtell As a Victorian/ Melbournian - wear the mask. It’s not that hard... just wear the mask..

billbowtell Oh my gosh the image is so annoying. Hey kid, the mask goes over your nose!

Seriously! GladysB NSWCHO PLEASE protect our bus drivers and citizens. Masks on public transport for all those that can wear them safely. WHY do we have to wait for evidence of our citizens coming to harm, when the rest of the world is already ahead in the evidence?

deniseshrivell Urging people doesn't work ya numbskulls. We don't 'urge' people to drive safely, we make laws and fine those who disobey them because it's the only way to herd the sheep 🐑 parade we call society. 🤪

Go away you idiotic media. Have mask ready but no one catching trains. How old are the idiots that write these articles and want our well deserved freedoms to be taken away. Stopped reading and listening to all Fairfax and Channel Nine media. Disastrous lies and pathetic.

JaneCaro Wait, Berejiklian should make mask-wearing mandatory, but Andrews is a 'dictator' for doing the same? Say again? auspol mediacircus

JaneCaro We have 77000 cases a day in India and our PM is talking about Toys and Pet dogs. Learn from us how to handle pandemics.

A passenger in 🇨🇳 unaware they had coronavirus infected up to 13 people travelling on the same bus. The virus can linger in the air for at least 30 minutes, travel up to 4.5m, float even after the infected has left the bus. Open windows. Wear masks.

Poor old Gladdie wouldn't know if a fkn mask slapped her in the face or on the a***... time to go luvvie...

Professor Pennington reveals how there is no evidence to suggest a coronavirus second wave is coming. Pennington is a British virologist ,emeritus professor of bacteriology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland

In Melb currently and it ain’t that bad .

The active cluster is a gym cluster not a public transport one. Public transport is already running at 30% capacity & 30% of commuters are wearing masks voluntarily. That’s a big risk reduction already. Let’s push gyms & restaurants to operate in a Covid safe manner. That’s key

Pressure mounts

She didn't have to tell me to wear a mask. I have worked in infectious disease areas. I bought my masks in March and have been wearing them in public places where social distancing is not really possible.

highly paid bureaucrats determined to lock down NSW and cripple small business . . . that’s how socialism works in Victoria . . . flattening the curve no longer the narrative

Perhaps a good start would be making it mandatory for all state transit staff including the bus drivers. Caught 6 buses during the past week and not one driver was wearing a face mask. GladysB

Here's an old fashioned idea : STRIKE. That's right, if EVERYONE GOES ON STRIKE they'd have to listen.

Seems only the media is mounting this pressure really. There isn’t enough cases here and no one has ever caught covid on a bus or train.

People are not wearing masks on public transport and the buses are crowded. When will masks be made mandatory on public transport? NSWHealth

Better August 30 than never but crikey. What’s going on over there?

If only the US had it that 'bad'.

Masking make you feel better according to this photo taken at 5 thousandth mm.

Victoria will be closing their Borders soon Michael24785563
