DOH urges respect for COVID patients’ privacy

The DOH said that health authorities have the “right to access personal information to enable effective response” as mandated by Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

The DOH said that the necessary information should only be shared with concerned public health authorities who are knowledgeable about data privacy. Any privacy violation, personal data breach, or security incident is punishable in accordance with RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012, the DOH reminded.
