KOTA TINGGI: The Health Ministry will consider all suggestions before deciding on the proposal to raise the compound imposed on violators of the movement control order (MCO) from the current RM1,000.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said the move entailed an amendment to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 .

He was commenting on the statement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that he supported the ministry’s proposal to raise the current fine when he announced on Friday the extension of the recovery MCO to Dec 31 to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. “If the person’s temperature is 37.5°C and above, they will be moved aside so that they can be screened and may also undergo real-time RT-PCR tests, ” he said.
