'World's oldest married couple' have combined age of 215

A husband and wife team from Ecuador have made it into the record books after they were officially recognised as the world’s oldest married couple.

Guinness World Records recognised the feat in mid-August. Their marriage is not the longest ever recorded – that milestone belongs to Herbert Fisher and his wife Zelmyra who were married for 86 years and 290 days until Herbert’s death in 2011.Julio and Waldramina are both retired teachers and live in Ecuador’s capital of Quito. They have four surviving children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Cecilia said her father enjoys watching television and drinking milk and her mother, who is a big fan of desserts, likes to read the newspaper every morning.
