The death has been announced of the African-American actor Chadwick Boseman, the star of Marvel's Black Panther and Avengers films. He was 43-years-old and had been battling colon cancer.
"From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more - all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. Boseman's iconic role as King T'Challa/Black Panther brought him global acclaim. He first appeared as the superhero in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War and subsequently reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
His first starring role on the big screen came in the 2013 film 42, a biopic of pioneering African-American baseball player Jackie Robinson. He had previously portrayed another sports star, American Football player Floyd Little, in the 2008 film The Express, the story of college football hero Ernie Davis.
