Shinzo Abe to Resign as Japanese Prime Minister Due to Health Concerns, Local Media Report

TOKYO—Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to announce his resignation Friday, citing his worsening health, public broadcaster NHK and other local media said.

The 65-year-old Mr. Abe, who has long suffered from an intestinal condition called ulcerative colitis, spent 7½ hours at a Tokyo hospital on Aug. 17 for what he said were tests. He returned to the hospital for nearly four hours on Aug. 24, saying he was getting a report on the test results. He didn’t say what the tests showed.

He will only be remembered for allowing the Taiji dolphin slaughter to continue, which by the way starts again today 🤢
